Just a quick demonstration of how different footage looks out of camera once it’s been graded in post production. The footage is recorded logarithmically rather than linearly, which makes it appear washed out and a little soft, but more information is retained and leads to a better end result. This is why I don’t usually let people see footage straight off the back of my camera; it takes time to get used to seeing it this way and know what it will look like later.
Lana & Max in Venice, Italy
Well this was a little different. I met up with a photography friend of mine in Venice and shot a little footage whilst she was doing Lana and Max's portrait shoot. I didn't really know what it would become, but it worked out pretty well. Great people to work with, and they brought the star quality to an incredible place.
175th Anniversary of the First Cunard Crossing
It'd been a long day's shooting today up in Wigan. I dropped my second shooter back home and when I arrived outside my house I heard the horn of the QM2 in the river. I raced down to the New Brighton waterfront to see what I could see of the enormous vessel beginning its homage to the Britannia. 175 years ago today, that ship set sail from Liverpool on the first transatlantic Cunard voyage. It's classy that Cunard is doing this. Quite a sight.
Having grown up on Merseyside, it's so gratifying to see these beautiful famous ships back in the river so regularly. Liverpool is booming again.
An Indian Summer
We didn't quite get our indian summer this year but some colleagues and I headed out into Royden Park anyway to create a magical spot for a tea party. I'm sure you'll agree these women know how to make a beautiful setting.
Venue dressing was by Elegant Twist, floristry by Blue Orchid, cakes and confectionary by Bella's Cake Pantry and stationery was by Pink Sherbet.
