2015 Run for the 96

Sunday's Run for the 96 was dedicated to the 96 football fans—the youngest just 10 years old—who lost their lives going to see a football match at Hillsborough in 1989. It was an emotional thing to see the city united in remembering the victims and supporting the continuing fight for justice. Mel C, Les Dennis, Graham Stewart and Kurtis Stacey were there along with Margaret Aspinall. It was a day that made you proud to be from Merseyside.

2014 BTR Wirral Half Marathon

A ninety one year old runner completes the 2014 BTR Wirral Half Marathon in New Brighton

Much respect to anyone that completed the BTR Wirral Half Marathon or 10k this Sunday, particularly the 91-year-old gentleman completing the run in the cover photo. I had the pleasure of photographing the event again and I've picked out a few of my favourites from the day to share here.

2013 Inaugural Wirral Half Marathon

A selection of images from Sunday's Wirral Half Marathon and 10K. The weather was pretty awful but there was still a huge turnout of both runners and public. I'm always impressed by the attitude of people around here. Nothing puts them off.

One woman at the end pulled me aside and told me that a friend had died of cancer last year and she was running for her. She said that every time she felt pain along the run she thought of her friend and it kept her going. That's what it's all about.

That's the thing with events like this. The idiots in our community don't get up early on a Sunday to do something fantastic; you're left with only the best of us and it creates a superb atmosphere that's a pleasure to be around.

Well done to everyone that ran.
